Today I’m visiting with Petra Neiman, special consultant to the Central Region Investigative Authority. In May 2096, Petra helped bring one of Chicago’s most corrupt officials to justice, in her highest profile case to date. In the process, she learned a great deal about herself, her unique skills, and she met the man who became her husband.
Regan Black: We’ve heard all about alpha males, that they lead – from a distance. What does it mean to you to be an alpha female?
Petra: “I believe the alpha label is about independence, whether you’re discussing men or women. Physically there are obvious differences, but that doesn’t mean females are incapable of accomplishing anything of real importance.”
RB: How do you define importance?
P: “Importance boils down to a person’s values. Inside themselves and the family and outside with their community. What’s important to one person, might be trivial to another and those differences deserve respect. People should feel safe in the community, in the family, in themselves. When they don’t, when something disturbs that peace, I can come in and help restore the harmony.”
RB: That’s a tall order for one woman.
P: “Good thing I’m a woman of exceptional determination and unique abilities.”
RB: What exactly are your abilities?
P: “I have empathic talents. In my case, that means I can read emotions and memories often just by touching another person. I can also siphon off excesses of emotion to let people rest or find clarity. When people calm down, reason has a chance to prevail.”
RB: Do you find a lot of excessive emotion with the CRIA? [Central Region Investigative Authority]
P: Laugher. “You’d be surprised. For them, I usually come in and read a crime scene for any residual clues. This can help point the investigator in the right direction. These days, as justice tries to keep pace with creative criminals, my skills can be particularly useful.
RB: But you’re not a psychic?
P: “Not really. Not in the classic stereotype. Just an emapth.”
RB: An empath with exceptional determination.
P: “Exceptional determination helps in every situation, emotional or not, don’t you think?”
RB: I do agree. And please join us next week for the conclusion of my interview with the fascinating Petra Neiman.
