Reading Romances September 2012 Results

Whew, I almost blew it again. I made my choice for September’s Reading Romances challenge: Pirate Next Door, by Jennifer Ashley and downloaded the book. Then things got a little wonky with the dogs, a car, my husband came home on leave, etc. and the book didn’t want to be on my mobile phone (weird app moment) so I started reading another book or two or three… then wham! it’s nearly the end of September and I have a book challenge to achieve!

But I did it! I’m sliding in here at the last second, but it was a piece of cake because reading Pirate Next Door was an absolute delight! Alexandra and Grayson are two unique and dynamic characters and they simply burned up the pages with all the attraction and mysteries between them.

Jennifer Ashley crafted a well-paced story packed with action and drama and romance and I will soon be adding the others in this series to my t0-be-read list!

Just to review this month’s challenges were:

1) Read a classic romance 2) Read a book with an animal on its cover

3) Urban Fantasy with a strong romance line and strong, kick-ass heroine

4) for Editors and Writers Month Read a book where a character is in the writing field (author, writer, journalist, publisher, editor, etc)

5) for Pirate dayRead a book that involves Pirates or other sea-faring characters, like Vikings, Ship Captains, etc.. (to be honest, pirate day reminded me that I hadn’t read the book yet) Arrr!

6)Read a Book Day: Read a book that you have been meaning to read or a book that has been neglected in a series or a challenge or a random book that caught your fancy when you were browsing.

I also read POWER by Debra Webb (book 3 in the Faces of Evil series) and it was amazing. Her main character Jess keeps getting better and better, despite the obstacles and twisted cases. Both of the cases in this book were twisted and wrapped up with a surprise. And oh, my, is her hero Dan swoon-worthy. I love how the characters feel like old friends, and the deeper we get into the series, the more dynamic characters come on the scene.
